Deer Meadows is an 80-apartment, residential living (assisted living) senior’s complex.
Due to excess water running off the roof, improper surface drainage and a build-up of groundwater, water was accumulating under the foundation and causing serious problems to the complex. Doors were no longer fitting properly into their jambs and water was entering the building.
Nilex recommended the installation of a Multi-Flow™ strip drain system to effectively drain stormwater away from the building foundation and into a central catch basin. 6” Multi-Flow was used to collect and carry water to 4” tubing collector runs from each downspout of the building as well as from other areas in the complex where water had been pooling. A hydro-vac truck was used to create openings under existing walkways to run the Multi-Flow through.
The Multi-Flow system proved to be much easier to install than a conventional stone-filled French Drain system providing significant economic and environmental benefits through minimizing trenching, hauling and disposal of waste material and the hauling and placement of drain rock.
Three days after installation, a two-inch rainfall occurred and the new system provided proper drainage into the catch basin. The owners plan to install this system in other buildings.
