Primary Containment

Introduction

Primary containment applications, such as landfills or tailings ponds, require geomembranes to prevent the leaching of materials into the surrounding soil and groundwater.

Nilex geomembrane technology offers a wide range of materials for the containment of a variety of liquids, solids and waste materials. Specialty materials are available for unique chemical and/or thermal conditions. Nilex offers geomembrane liner installation, design assistance, fabrication and construction services for containment applications.

Solutions

Tank Lining

For nearly 30 years Nilex has been installing primary containment lining systems inside steel, concrete and wood containment structures. With over 1,100 structures lined, Nilex uses technically advanced geosynthetic materials to fabricate our Loose-Fit Tank Lining System, making it possible to...

Pond Lining

Geomembrane liners have been used in pond applications for decades and are a viable economical solution for containment of hazardous and nonhazardous liquids. Liner durability against weather, UV exposure, chemical exposures, and temperature fluctuations has increased in performance along with...

High Temperature Applications

Nilex's selection of high temperature geomembrane liners can be used in primary containment situations where processes produce highly elevated temperatures. In these conditions liner integrity and long service life are essential. High temperature geomembrane liners provide enhanced mechanical...

Landfills

When landfills are constructed a geomembrane liner is installed to create a barrier between the waste that is dumped in the landfill and the ground below it. Nilex's geomembrane liners help direct leachate appropriately to a collection site rather than leaking into the ground affecting...

Frac Water Ponds

Fluids used in the hydraulic fracturing (fracking) process that are returned to the surface, called flowback, are generally stored in open pits (ponds) or tanks at the well site prior to disposal. Flowback – water combined with sand, sediment, oil and other additives – must be contained to...

Sump Lining

Nilex geomembrane liners are used in many different sump lining applications and can be custom fabricated to meet your specific needs. ...

Testimonials

I want to thank you for getting things organized as quickly as you did for us and for the follow up calls and site visits that allowed us to get this work done and meet our schedule dates for the road work. As well, your product knowledge and ability to provide the technical support when dealing with the consultants was a major help in getting the system approved and installed correctly.

Bob T, Project Manager, MGP Construction Ltd.

Not only was there a substantial cost savings realized by the client, there was also a benefit to the road structure as well. The original design road structure number was 3.780 and a calculated traffic (ESALs) of 2,147,000. The revised road structure number using the TX5 is 4.260 and a calculated traffic (ESALs) of 4,593,000.

Jim B, C.E.T., Senior Project Manager, WSP Canada Inc.

Nilex was an invaluable asset in the successful completion of the Troutbrooke Drive Slope Stabilization project in Toronto, by providing engineering assistance, installation training and continuous on and off site technical support.

Terraprobe Engineering

The CULTEC system was simple to install. We will be recommending, and looking forward to using the Cultec system for future projects.

Kang Construction

We love you guys for getting this project [Energy Environmental Experiential Learning (EEEL) Building Grounds] completed in the timelines required.
